Become a Volunteer

At AFCI, we are always interested in hearing from passionate and hardworking people who wish to join our team in Jordan. Depending on the needs of our project, we offer a range of volunteering and internship roles.

Description:

Your main duty will be to help students improve their oral and written language skills by teaching one of our English classes. The teaching should be in accordance with AFCI’s English curriculum, as well as encouraging students’ personal development, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  Teachers will also be expected to support AFCI in monitoring and evaluation activities, curriculum and teaching development. 

Requirements

  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills

  • Patience and enthusiasm for working with children

  • Ability to work in stressful situations

  • Proactive approach towards problem-solving 

Teaching experience is preferred. Arabic is useful but not necessary. 

Required availability:

September - December:

2x per week, 8am-15pm

English Teacher Volunteer

Description:

Your main duties include planning and delivering AFCI’s computer and digital literacy classes at the centre in Zaatari Village. The classes should maximise student learning, use appropriate teaching and learning methods to communicate subject matter to students, as well as incorporating approaches that meet diverse student needs according to the AFCI Computer Project Curriculum. Additional duties include evaluating student performance and providing feedback to individual students and members of the project team. 

Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to interact with all students and identify their needs.

  • Ability to design lesson plans that meet the students’ needs.

  • Proactive approach towards problem-solving

Native Arabic is required. Teaching experience is preferred.

September - December:

2x per week , 8am-14pm

Computer Teacher Volunteer

Description:

The Project Assistant is tasked with supporting the Project Manager in the delivery of AFCI’s projects in the Zaatari Village. Responsibilities of a Project Assistant
involve managing AFCI’s media and communications accounts, drafting project reports and proposals, conducting project monitoring and evaluation, updating accounting records, and managing AFCI’s information management system and databases. Additional duties may also include organising fundraising and other relevant social events.

Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in using MS Office and Google Drive

  • Ability to multitask and manage various project elements simultaneously

  • Written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizational, analytical and team-working skills

  • Proactive approach towards problem-solving

Full professional English fluency required. Arabic proficiency is desired, but not essential.
