Türkiye and Syria
Acting for Change International opened its office in Türkiye in February 2022 where the team on the ground is providing much needed humanitarian support to refugee families in northern Syria and Türkiye.
Türkiye-Syria earthquake relief
Our team focused on pulling out people from the collapsed buildings after the initial shocks and assisted in transporting people into shelters. Afterward, it provided food and water in the Hatay province in Türkiye and the city of Afrin in northern Syria, thanks to the donations we received from our emergency fundraiser and other contributions.
Currently, the team is setting up tents and delivering other much-needed survival items in Afrin, Syria.
AFCI is working to help the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit south-eastern Türkiye, near the Syrian border in the early morning of 06.02.2023, which has killed more than 50,000 people. Our team in the AFCI Türkiye office on the ground has been affected but is well.
Many of people living in the area are refugees or minorities who have always been at a disadvantage and have now lost everything. According to UNHCR as many as 5.3 million people may have been left homeless.
In March 2023, our team on the ground in Syria conducted a needs assessment, surveying 221 households in Afrin and Al-Bab in Syria.

Ramadan 2022 distributions
In May 2022, we delivered the first packages after our Ramadan fundraiser. Our team on the ground purchased the food on site, prepared the packages and delivered them straight to the families’ houses. Thanks to the donations to our fundraiser and some additional donations, we were able to deliver big bags full of staples to 39 families.
